The Role of Social Services in the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights 24 April 2018 

 

On the 24th of April, Social Services Europe presented its position paper on the key role social services play in the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights in the European Parliament. In a productive discussion with MEPs and EP staff, Commission representatives, the Social Protection Committee and civil society, Social Services Europe explained how social services contribute to upholding at least 10 of the social rights in the EPSR and presented recommendations on how services should be supported to play this role.

European Parliament Debate on: Recruitment & Retention in Social Services: Unlocking the Sector's Job Creation Potential. 22 November 2017, Brussels

 

On 22 November 2017, Social Services Europe presented their research report Recruitment & Retention in Social Services: Unlocking the Sector’s Job Creation Potential, at a European Parliament Debate hosted by MEPs Romana Tomc (EEP), and Brando Benifei (S&D). The debate took basis in a Europe-wide challenge: recruiting and retaining sufficient staff to meet the needs of the social services sector, now and in the future.

PESSIS III final conference. 19-20 October 2017. Brussels

 

The 19-20th October 2017 marked the final stages of the PESSIS III project, with the launch of the Federation of European Social Employers (FESE), representing major Employer organisations in the field of social services in Europe.The newly established Federation of European Social Employers will aim at setting-up, together with workers’ representatives, a sectoral European social dialogue committee, with participation in EU cross-sectoral social dialogue -through pre-existing structures-being an important objective. FESE will also strive to provide a voice to Social Services Employers’ at European level. The objective is to help the European Union take full advantage of the sector’s opportunities and contribution towards social cohesion, job creation and inclusive growth in the years to come.

Social Services Europe Breakfast Session. 26 March 2015. Brussels

On 26 March 2015, Social Services Europe held a breakfast session to provide an oportunity for service providers and policy makers to work together on getting social investment back on to the European Commission's agenda. Participants agreed that an action plan on job creation in the health and social sector is needed.

PESSIS II final conference. 23-24 September 2014. Brussels

 

For the first time ever, social partners in the social services field came together to discuss the added value of European social dialogue for Employers in the sector, as well as to discuss what topics they would be interested in discussing at European level. The conference, held on 23rd September, brought to an end the second phase of the PESSIS project which aims at promoting employers in the social services sector in social dialogue.

 

 

EESC public hearing. EU policy agenda for Social Enterprise: what next? 3rd September 2014. Brussels

EASPD Secretary General and Social Services Europe (SSE) President, Luk Zelderloo intervened in a Public Hearing organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) to share the service providers’ views on the upcoming EU policy agenda for Social Enterprise.
